In the presence of the European Commissioner of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Mr. Karmenu Vella, and the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine of Ireland, Mr. Michael Creed T.D., the Conference will provide an opportunity for over 300 Atlantic Strategy stakeholders to promote innovative project ideas, exchange information and good practices, network as well as explore areas for cooperation and funding opportunities for their activities. Confirmed speakers of the Conference, amongst others, include Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mr. Brendan Carr, and Member of the European Parliament, Ms. Deirdre Clune.

This year’s Conference marks the launch of the “Atlantic Project Awards”. The Conference will also see which coastal city will be crowned Atlantic City of the Year!

Over 30 acclaimed experts will host 8 workshops on entrepreneurship and innovation (Priority 1 of the Atlantic Action Plan). They will be presenting their projects and activities, the challenges faced, the solutions found and the best practices identified.

Over 40 confirmed exhibitors from the five Atlantic EU Member States will demonstrate their activities at the Conference. These include private companies, funding agencies (such as various INTERREG Programmes), projects, as well as non-governmental organisations and networks. ABOUT THE ATLANTIC ACTION PLAN
Launched by the European Commission in 2011, the Atlantic strategy identifies challenges and opportunities in the region and takes stock of existing initiatives that can support growth and job creation. It also calls on stakeholders to help design new projects which can benefit from EU funding. The strategy was complemented by an Atlantic Action Plan in 2013.

Coasts, territorial and jurisdictional waters of five EU member states (France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom, and their overseas territories, i.e. the Azores, the Canary Islands, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Madeira, Martinique, Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin), as well as international waters fall within the strategy's scope.

The Atlantic Strategy is part and parcel of the Integrated Maritime Policy for the EU, which aims to coordinate all EU policies with a maritime dimension to ensure environmental sustainability and quality of life in coastal regions while promoting the growth of maritime industries.

ABOUT THE SUPPORT TEAM FOR THE ATLANTIC ACTION PLAN
The Support Team for the Atlantic Action Plan is tasked to communicate and implement the AAP’s objectives. It is composed of a Brussels based Central management Team and of five National Units based in Ireland, United Kingdom, Spain, France and Portugal. These liaise with local, regional and national stakeholders to foster cooperation and provide timely information on funding opportunities. The aim is to help stakeholders realise their project ideas and create the right connections between existing funding instruments.
